My days

A journal to share with close friends whom I don't get to see often. An update of my life, the good things and bad things that went passed, which are both blessings as they are my learning experiences in life. You might just get a glimpse of the inner me which you have never seen before =)

Sponsoring a child at World Vision

A basket of blessings just for you

I have recently sign up to be a sponsor for a child in Bangladesh. Before you guys go what the heck am I talking about being a sponsor? Well its a programme under World Vision (www.worldvision.org.sg), the main aim is to help young lives all around the world.

Child sponsorship helps build relationships between people in richer and poorer nations to develop mutual understanding and respect so that together we can work for justice, peace, reconciliation and healing in a broken world.

I have always wanted to sponsor a child and since with the change of job and the increase of pay, I guess its high time that I make my wish into reality =) For an amt of $45/mth that I give to the child, it can seriously make a difference not only to the child but her family.

The main reason on why I blog this, is mainly to spread the word. If you have the means to give, why not do it? The blessings you gave upon the children will in turn be blessed onto you! =) Check out the website to find out more!

Hehe..I just received details and a photo of the little girl that I am sponsoring. I shall go something for her this weekend...hehe...welcome gift! Who knows that one day I might just visit her!!

Pulau Perhentian 24/04/07- 01/05/07

Hi all, this Perhentian trip has been long overdue!!! I know..for those whom have browsed my friendster, you would have caught a glimpse of the beautiful island and moments being captured. For those whom have not, just go and check it out ya =)

Its been a busy month for me with the getting adapted at work and all, whole new life altogether. The trip was a good break for me right before the start of the new job. Nothing beats slacking around doing nothing but fun fun fun and all these with great company.. what can anyone else ask for ya?

Everything thats associated with the trip is new to me..allow me to bring you through it =)

1) I have to take a 12 hr coach (night coach meaning I have to sleep throught the night 'by right') to Terranganu, something that I have never done before..the max I have gone is a 8-hr flight to Sydney, thats about it! and on the plane I have movies to watch but this..I have endless passing street lights, bumpy bus and cold cold air con to company me through the night. Slept max 3-4 hours on both back n for trip.

2) Taking a speed boat to the island thats like..woo hoo..the boat is sliding through the choppy waters at high speed..with it comes the super bumpy ride and of coz splashing water thats shoots past your face and u feel like its slapping you! wahaha.. my poor butt..but its quite fun la..

3) Upon arrival at the resort, I'm greeted by comando mosquitoes =( and being an ex mossi personnel..of coz 1st thing I will do is to identify what species it is!!! Being black and white they seems to be the sumo size Aedes species in Singapore but they're actually Amigeres species la..hehe..

4) Next is the resort...oh gosh..so nice...the interior is exactly like any hotels just that.. er hmm..they dont have a TV!!..Call me suah-ku..I didnt know that the usual resorts dont have one either...I'm like: oh my goodness what are we going to do at night!!!

5) As we have paid for a full board accomodation, lunch and dinner is included too..and guess what I simply love the meals coz..they're like traditional home cooked food..with the usual soup and please they dont use those MSG filled stock cubes.. they actually put red dates..chicken and all..I'm impressed and plus the other 3 dishes..Every meal time is like a big 'family' gathering since there's 7 of us..So heartwarming!!

6) Next will have to be the snorkelling, my 1st time trying it out! Though I swim quite alot, my threading in water..fail...w/o that safety vest..I wont dare to go into the water..might just drown..hehe..Snorkelling on a very good sunny day..you can simply just see every single thing underneath the waters..the corals...fish..we were at this spot underneath the lighthouse.. and there're like thousands of fish there.. simply make this trip a worthwhile one..they just swim together with you..just hope that they wont bite my butt la..=)..oh and I saw alot of nemos...so adorable!!!...I also saw a pool of fish, something like hump head fish..at least a dozen of them..they're like 30cm W by 50 cm L, jaws almost dropped upon seeing them.

7) Sun tanning!!! got a tann from there..[who doesnt? when you go to the beach]..got so tann on the face that I'm like..die la..1st day of work and I am going to appear like a Malay instead of a Chinese..that will be quite amusing..Saw a group of angmohs which I am sure their motto is: die die must get a tann b4 heading home..they just bake in the sun for like 2-3 days for many hours..I will be like: alright 2 hrs have passed, time to flip to bbq the other side..hehe..

8) Many bits about the trip is joy, there're also sad moments. Along the coastline there're made-shift 'sheds' that sell the usual tibits..drinks and little items you need during a resort stay (which our group did grab quite a few stuff from there). Of coz they're not legal, these ppl are just making a livinghood through the minimal resources they have. We arrived on a Sat, on Monday early morning we saw government officials tearing down the sheds coz they're illegal. Items were removed from the sheds where a couple of tourists helped out and alot of ppl become spectators. Quite sad to see it happened, though the sheds are small, the amount thats been brought out is amazing. How are they going to sell these things off? But oh well, seeing this episode being carried out in front of us is just something for us to think about. In the midst of our enjoyment, we see the true colors of life, its not joy all the time.

Farewell

26th April marked my last day in the company and with that I have specially ordered cupcakes (www.flickr.com/photos/minicupcakes) to 'feed' my colleagues =) It has been a heartwarming week, with a couple of farewell lunch/dinner, lovely cards and lovely farewell/birthday gifts.

Among them I found a great mentor that taught me with great patience and never failed to give a helping hand when I met up with problems at work. Colleagues/friends that are really spontaneous and fun to be with during the out-of-work activities. Friends that lead me to Christ and also reintroduce the shine in my life with unconditioned love and care. People whom have helped me without much hesitation when I asked for their help.

I really feel thankful and blessed for their presence in my 5 year stay in the company. All the best guys and if you're reading this, stay in touch! =)

Really looking forward to the new challenging job ahead!!

Financial Blessings

Everytime during the initial part of a church services, pastor would always encourage all christians to do tithes and offerings or service offerings & etc. For me to give a service offering is not of a problem but tithes and offerings...hmmm.... I have not started on it yet as giving out 10% of my pay doesnt seem easy for me whom have other obligations and stuff to take care of and of coz being a rather worldly person, that amount still seem very significant in impacting my 'spending' power. But ever since I returned to church, this idea have been bugging me somehow...like..should I? or should I not?hmm....

So in order to convince myself to give tithes & offerings. I picked up a book among a stash in my sister's room and started reading and I have just finished reading the book titled "Money not enough?" by Rev Chia Kew San. The following is some important take home pointers or should I say BEAR IN MIND ALWAYS pointers:

God loves to bless people and we are blessed with every spiritual blessings that consist of good health, long life, soundness of mind, balanced emotions and a close relationship with Him. Everything that we need to live a life that is pleasing to God, He has already given to us.

We are blessed according to Christ's riches and God will meet, supply and fully satisfy all our needs. All our needs will be fully meet by God; He will give us more than enough so that we can be a blessing to many.

But why are many of us still worried over our finances?

It is because alot of us have submit ourselves to the Money God. The money god uses difficulties and hardships to make the Christian serve him and chase after him. The Christian spends all his time and energy trying to earn enough money to provide for him and his family instead of serving the Lord. Therefore, we need to bind the money god so that we can possess God's provisions. After binding the money god, some testimonials showed that God has bring them even more financial blessings.

When you are blessed financially, do not forget to tithe to your church. How you respond to God and others when are you blessed will determine your future blessings. You are blessed in order to be a blessing to others. When you bless others with what you have been blessed and you prove faithful with the little that you have, God will pour out much more into your lap.

I am using the above paragraph to remind me constantly so that I will tithe on my next pay day!Blessed all those whom have been tithing and may this post be a encouragement for those Christian friends that have not tithe =)

Faith

The following is something that I have read today and I just thought I will share it, especially with my christian friends.

The operation of the gift of faith is associated with an unnatural boldness in prayer and preaching.

Faith deals boldly with people and their problems.

Faith is visionary. It views the future with absolute assurance and hope.

Faith thinks positively. It hates negativity.

Faith feeds on who we are in Christ and our potential in Him.

Faith speaks to other people, to situations and often to itself.

Faith dreams and meditates on the complete fulfilment of prayer. It does not dwell on anxieties.

Faith uplift others and inject hope into their lives.

Faith imparts the ability to believe and trust God.

Faith proclaims God's goodness. It sees God as good.

Faith is smiling, happy and victorious -- it is undefeatable.

No matter how bad a situation becomes, no matter how much opposition arises, faith knows what it has and will not be denied.

The above was quoted from 'Moving in the Spirit' by Dr Phil Pringle
